doesn't he look like Nic Cage's younger, meaner brother though...

And that is bad because?
I am such a girl! I wasn't that excited about this film before, but show me some eye-candy and I'm counting the days till its release! You can just hear the producers plotting how to get the film to appeal to as wide an audience as possible.

Exec 1: Well, we're pretty much guarenteed the comic fans, but what about everyone else?
Exec 2: It's got a tough guy on a bike - that has to be good to get the Hell's Angel's through the door.
Exec 3: The guy makes a pact with the devil - that will get the fundamentalists really narked, generate some extra publicity, and make sure they come to watch it so they can be fully prepared to protect their kids against its evil influence.
Exec 2: Can we write in a homosexual love story arc? I mean it worked for Alexander...
Exec 1: No. This is a comicbook hero without the sidekick.
Exec 3: Write in a sidekick? Call him... The Mechanic? I mean, bike made of skeletal parts and flames, that's got to take some up keep...
Exec 1: No.
Exec 3: *crestfallen* Oh. I'll, um, just go and put this costume I was going to wear to the audition away then...
Exec 2: *muses for a while* So, let's see, comicbook character (check), bike (check), eternal damnation (check), leather jacket (check)... You know, none of that is going to appeal to the females...
Exec 1: So we make sure the actor who plays the lead is someone liked by the ladies. OH! What is that Keanu chappy doing at the moment?
Exec 2: No, Reeves won't go for it. Doesn't give him a chance to do his messianic bit.
Exec 1: Shame. That's an actor who looks good in a leather coat.
Exec 3: *coming back into the room* Um, well, I do keep fielding this calls from Nic Cage. Apparently he's this major fan of the comic. Does a good line in brooding. And my girlfriend only went to see National Treasure because he was in it...
